The Environmental Project Management Agency (EPMA) has approved a new financing measure for residents who want to install solar power plants with energy storage devices. For this, 5.4 million euros of EPMA support for solar power plants and storage devices have been allocated, and the call is planned to be published in October this year.
One applicant who has installed a 5 kW solar power plant with a 10 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) storage device will be granted support of up to 5,012 euros. Expenses will be recognized as eligible if incurred from 1 September 2025.
Relevant support information:
- The support will not need to be reserved in advance, and payment requests and documents will be accepted after the resident has installed the solar power plant and storage device.
- Only natural persons whose power plant's permitted generation capacity to the grid will not exceed 1 kW will be able to apply.
- The connection of 5 kW power plants will be carried out in a simplified manner in accordance with the standard conditions for the connection of the power plant published by ESO and applicants will not need to additionally apply to ESO for the issuance of connection conditions.
At this stage, the measure will provide an opportunity for approximately 1,000 households to install their own solar power plants with storage systems and increase energy independence.
