Planned 2026 support calls for households: solar power plants and electricity storage systems

The Ministry of Energy has published apreliminary APVA 2026 financial support call plan, which includes support for households installing solar PV systems and support for electricity storage batteries. The direction remains the same: people will continue to be encouraged to become prosumers, but the plan also outlines changes to the support intensity, meaning that some grant rates in 2026 will be lower than before. That is why it is worth preparing the required documents as early as possible, so you can make smooth use of the funding once the call opens.

Support is planned for several solution types. It would cover rooftop solar PV installations, the purchase of shares in remote solar parks, the installation of electricity storage systems, and integrated solutions where solar PV is installed together with storage. In other words, APVA funding calls for 2026 will be tailored to different situations—from your own roof to a remote solar park, and from a basic PV system to a PV-plus-storage solution.

According to the preliminary 2026 schedule, the highest activity for households is expected in the second and third quarters. In Q2, €13 million is planned for rooftop solar PV installations, and €3 million for the development of remote solar PV. In Q3, a call is planned for installing solar PV together with electricity storage systems (€4 million). A separate call for electricity storage systems is also planned, with an additional €4 million.

If there is a chance you will want to install a battery in the future, it is worth considering this already when planning your solar PV system. In that case, it makes sense to choose a solution that will be suitable for future support for battery storage—for example, by planning for a hybrid inverter. This is especially relevant for those who want to start with solar PV and add storage later, once the real need becomes clear and energy-use habits change.

The key message for 2026 is the planned reduction of support amounts. For rooftop solar PV, the grant is reduced from €255 to €170 per kW, and the maximum eligible installed capacity is reduced to 7 kW. Support for battery storage is also being reduced: support for combined solar PV and storage solutions is lowered from €5,000 to €3,500, and the grant for electricity storage systems is adjusted from €380 to €170 per kWh. These changes mean that when planning support for solar PV in 2026, it is worth assessing your actual needs more precisely and choosing a solution that matches your consumption, rather than simply aiming for the maximum capacity.

The call plan is preliminary: specific dates, terms, and requirements will be announced separately. The plan may also be updated, so before making a final decision it is worth checking the official call conditions that are in force at the time.
